Staffing:
Due
to roll growth in our new entrant area the Board has appointed Ms Katherine Uttley to our staff.
Katherine will commence a new, new entrant class in room 23 at the
beginning of term 4. This follows for
her, 4 years of teaching junior children in an
The
Board of Trustees will be busy with personnel issues over the next couple of
months to see the school fully staffed with quality teachers for 2009.
Sharing Books
We hope that you
have really enjoyed sharing the books with your children. They have worked really hard with their work.
Please ensure that all books are returned to school tomorrow so that
work can commence in them at the beginning of term four. If you would like to give us some feedback
regarding your child/ren taking a lead part in the
parent, teacher and student conference, please comment at the bottom of the
newsletter and return it to the box in the school admin area. Thank you.
Some particular successes this term.
·
Market to Market!
What a great success. The
children got a huge amount of satisfaction and learning out of this unit of
work. The Market Day was such fun,
enjoyed by everyone.
·
Some great sport and development of sporting skills through
the winter season.
·
Tuesday night’s choir festival was great and our children acquitted
themselves really well. Our hall was
stretched to capacity to accommodate the crowd.
ICAS Mathematics Results 2008 (
Thirty seven
children recently took part in the ICAS Mathematics assessment. In all areas of mathematics Central Normal’s
average scores were above the
Special
congratulations go to the following: Joey Berrett, Ake McIver, David Peck, Joshua Gardner-Hutton, Becky Olynsma and Alex Simpson who all achieved distinction.
An hour to enjoy
and discuss maths was held recently. Thank you to those families who
participated. Karen Walker from Massey
College of Education facilitated the evening.
Fund raising for World Vision:
Congratulations to
all the year 5-6 children who took park in the 20 hours famine. They went without food, or t.v., or play station, or talking etc.!! Especially well done to Kristin Taylor who raised over $300 and won a tee shirt. Kyndra
Garton .
and Michelle Young both raised over $100 each to win a prize from World Vision due to their
hard work.
Sports
Children keen to
play Summer sports will by now have enrolled in one of
the teams. We look forward to their
competitions getting underway. Again a
huge thank you to parents and friends who coached,
managed and supported our teams through the winter months. A special congratulations
to the White hockey team who were the winners of the second division.
Sports Uniforms
Please return all
sports uniforms urgently to school TOMORROW.
We are attempting to carry out a stocktake, this is difficult if children do not return their
uniforms. We may have to consider
charging for uniforms if they are not returned!
Library books, school
readers, sports equipment. If any of the aforementioned are at your house,
please return them to school tomorrow.
Book Week Activities 13th – 24th
October The Mobile Library
Bus will visit the school during book week.
Children are able to bring their Library Cards to school and take out
books when they visit the van. If you
have ‘overdue’ books at your house there will be an amnesty on fines if the
books are returned to the mobile library.

The Virtues Project at our school:
Our current virtue
is creativity.
Creativity is the
power of imagination. It is a way to
develop special talents. It is being
able to see things in new or different ways.
Creativity is using your imagination to bring something new in to the
world.
An affirmation about creativity: I
am creative. I have special gifts and am keen to develop them. I use my imagination. I am open to inspiration. I am happy to be my self.
Behaviour – manners and respect in and
about the school: (please note, a repeated paragraph!)
During the past
few weeks there has been an increase in the number of our children who have
been displaying behaviours that do not belong in a ‘safe and happy’
school. Arguments, some bullying, back
chatting and the use of language not at all appropriate in the school
environment is of concern. We would
encourage you to support us by talking with your child/ren
about appropriate ways of dealing with conflicts or any difficulties they may
have. Be assured that staff will
continue to support all children with any issues, and that our behaviour
Management Policy is being closely adhered to.
Children must to talk with staff
if any difficulty arises.

you know has a child turning 5 in the next 6 months and wish to attend Central
Normal PLEASE come in to the office very soon and fill in the paper work for
the child. Please bring a birth
certificate with you for us to copy.
Thank you.
