11.02.10
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather. What a
great start we have made to our 2010 year. We want to tell you how very proud
we are of your child and the start made.
Welcome to
all our new pupils and staff.
We welcomed 8
new staff and 45 new pupils.
Our new
staff...
Meet The Teachers Picnic
Come and join us on 22 February between 5.30 and 7.30.
Sausages and hamburgers for sale or bring your picnic
tea.
We also want to
spend a few minutes sharing our new WISE theme with you. There will be some
games for the children.
Stationery
for the year
Thank you to everyone who has already paid for
stationery. We have had some great support with this new system. It has been pleasing
to be able to start all children with their books from the first week.
Talking of books, we have a new Sharing Book this
year. We hope you will enjoy seeing these a little later.
Remember
each Day!
Sunhats/
Water bottles
Great to see children with snacks for eating through
the morning block.
Some suggestions for ‘Brain Food’ - peeled fruit in a container, dried
fruit, carrot sticks, celery sticks, nut bars, muesli bars. A small container
with a lid which is easy for a small child to open is really helpful.
National
Standards
You will have heard a lot recently in the media about National
Standards. We are quietly working on these and will get back to you a little
later in the year. We will continue to report to you about your child’s
learning and where they are in relation to others of a similar age.
Please do not hesitate to come and talk to us at any
time about your child’s progress.
Parent/
Child/teacher Conferences
These are going to be held later this term, in Week
7&8.
More information a little later.
Board of
Trustees:
Our Board has already met twice this year. They take
their role as governors of our school very seriously. We have a very positive and professional board.
Tri Annual Elections will be held in May –
look out for information calling for nominations for a new Board of Trustees
for our school for the next 3 years.
Cellphones/ Favourite Toys/Valuables
Children are not to have cell phones at
school unless at the request of a parent/caregiver, for a particular
purpose. The cell phone (named) will be
handed in at the school office prior to school commencing and can be collected
by the child at the end of the school day.
Children bring any item of value to school
at their own risk. If bringing something
for a ‘morning talk’ it should be given to the class teacher for safe
keeping. Children are not to bring toy
weapons, knives, matches, trading cards or battery operated toys to school.

American
Hot Dogs/Pie lunches – we need some help!
Do we have a parent or several parents
able to come in to school once a week (Thursdays 12.30 – 1.15p.m.) to prepare
and serve the hotdogs and pies to children wishing to order a treat for
lunch? If you are able to help us,
please leave your name at the school office.
Parking/
School Crossings
Thank you to the wonderful parents who
offered to help with road patrol this year.
We still have a few spaces left (both morning and after school) so if
there are any other parents who have a spare ½ hour in the morning or
afternoon, and wish to help with patrol, please let us know.
Swimming
Pool Keys
Numbers of families are enjoying our pool
at weekends and over the holidays.
Unfortunately a few key holders appear to have forgotten that they have
signed an agreement to keep to the pool rules!
If your family cannot keep to the rules
they are likely to be requested to return their key.
Safety at the
School Crossings
Please do not
call you child across to your car! Walk
to the patrolled crossing
to collect your
child safely. We do not want to see a
tragedy outside our school!!
