Dear Parents/Caregivers,

 

Welcome to another busy and happy week. We have some important information to share with you in our monthly Newsletter. We always seem to have so much to share with you.

 

Bark for the Junior Playground

A big thank you to the band of helpers who worked so willingly last Saturday morning to build up the bark in the Junior Playground – we very much appreciate your assistance and are happy that the children now have a safe landing pad. Thank you to the P.T.A and Board of trustees for paying for this.

 

Parent Conferences

Thank you to the families who have returned their slips for appointment times.  Remember school closes for the children at 12.30p.m. next TUESDAY!  Evening Conferences are on Thursday 12th March.  Remember to keep to your time.  If you require additional time please arrange for a further appointment with your child’s teacher.

 

Bible in Schools

The Bible in Schools Programme will begin in Maharahara and Matanginui on Thursday 12th March.  Please send a note to your child’s teacher if you DO NOT  wish your child to take part.

 

Teacher Only Day – Early warning!

The Board of Trustees has approved a Teacher Only Day for   Friday 23rd October.  Please note this on your calendar. We wanted to give you [lenty of warning incase you are making plans for Labour Weekend.

Thank you to our  wonderful sponsors – parents please support them if/when you are looking for various services. The covers come to school free of charge to us and the Board acknowledges the support of the sponsors too.

 

American Hot  Dog Lunches:

Two wonderful parents  have offered to do the cooking on Wednesdays each week.  We will send out forms at the end of next week and restart this popular lunch time treat on Wednesday’s from the 11th March.

 

Children’s Day  Sunday 1st March This is a special day across the country.  We think everyday should be Childrens Day but it is great to celebrate these special precious people.

The following activities are available to help promote this for families:

            Lido Aquatic Centre 10a.m. Water Safety, 11 a.m. mini Duathlon

                                                              12 Noon Flippa Ball, 1p.m. Beach Volleyball

                                                              1.30p.m. Underwater hockey & snorkelling

            Farm Day – Where Milk Comes From at Robert Ervines Farm,

                                                              1304 Highway 56, 12km south of                                                                                                                   Palmerston North 10a.m. – 3.00 p.m.

 

 

Five in 2009.

If you have a child in your family or know of a neighbour’s child who will turn five in 2009 please come in to enrol.  For planning purposes we would love to know how many children are likely to start school at Central Normal this year.  

 

 

Public Health Nurse & Doctor

Nurse Margaret and Dr Shirene will visit the school next Thursday 5th March. This is a free service for any parents and children who wish to have their child/rens health checked.  Please phone the school office to make a time.

 

National Maths Day

Next Wednesday is National Maths Day.  You might like to spend some extra time with your child playing maths games.

Palmerston North End Football Club

Lyn’s Pre School Gym

Lyn has places for children 2 ½  to 5 years on Tuesdays and Saturdays.  For further information please ring 3562873.

 

YMCA Oscar Programme

Before & After School care is available  within this programme. Children are picked up/dropped off  to/from our school.  For further information contact YMCA 3588921.

 

Joanna Hodgkinson Piano Teacher
