We offer quality teaching and learning by providing diversity and variety throughout our teaching teams. Each team provides stimulating and exciting learning opportunities for students making use of modern learning environments and ICT.
At Central Normal School classrooms are colourful, organised and reflect children’s learning.
Check out our teaching teams:
Central Normal School is a vibrant learning environment where we encourage whanau to share all learning with their tamariki. There are regular events that enable students to demonstrate their increasing understanding across all curriculum areas.
At Central Normal School, we believe that the active and authentic involvement of students in their learning is crucial to engagement and achievement.
Students actively drive WISE within the school.
We believe that students are the heart of Central Normal School and actively seek student voice to make OUR school a great learning environment.
Last week, the Board of Trustees received the resignation of Matua Kapene from Te Arawaru. As Matua Kapene explained, his whānau and tipuna in the Waikato are calling him back home. Matua Kapene has been absolutely outstanding and pivotal with the success of our Kapa Haka. He can leave our kura with the memory of the most amazing performances at Pae Tamariki, Regionals and Nationals. Matua Kapene will finish with us at the end of this term and we will farewell him accordingly.
We have employed two new Kaiawhina (Teacher Aides) in Te Arawaru - Matua Hitaua and Whaea Karangawai. Matua Hitaua and Whaea Karangawai will work alongside the tamariki in Te Arawaru to support them with their learning.
We also employed a new teacher aide, Sharyn Cook, who joined the Tararua Team, looking after one of our ORS children.
We welcomed these new staff, along with Kate Billyard (new teacher in Hub 11) at a pōwhiri on Monday.
