Wharite: The name of this peak is after the nesting place of Titi, or mutton birds as they are now known.

Whare = house ; Titi = mutton birds. Titi as we know burrow into the ground and this was a place where Titi used to bread.

Hi, My name is Catherine Pallesen and I am the Team Leader of Wharite team. I have been teaching at CNS for 15 years and have taught all age groups. Currently I am teaching New Entrants/Year 1’s in Room 22. I have a passion for the visual arts. I really enjoy teaching the Junior children because they make so much progress in such a short time.

Kia Ora. My name is Rachel Mason and I am part of the Wharite Team here at Central Normal School. I have a wonderful class of bright and bubbly Year 1's and 2's and we have had a great start to the year so far! I have recently finished my Bachelor of Education at the College of Education here in Palmerston North, and from that have revived my keen interest in the Arts (especially Drama). I also love a good game of Netball, both indoor and out.

Hi, I am Lois and I teach the NE/Year 1 students in Room 20. I have taught junior school students for 20 years in a number of schools around the country. It is exciting seeing students grow in confidence and in their learning. In room 20 we enjoy learning through music and movement, games, sharing each others ideas. We enjoy reading big books, construction with blocks, chalk drawing, working on the computers and celebrating each others success. Discovery Time on a Friday is lots of fun too.

I am Sarah McLeod and I am in my second year teaching. I teach in a Year 1 and 2 in Room 20 as part of Wharite team. I am on the Inquiry Curriculum team and have enjoyed supporting other members of Wharite team with Inquiry Based Learning. I have a passion for teaching literacy and art come and have a look at our classroom.

Hi my name is Ashlee McLeod and I am teaching in a Year 1 and 2 class. This is my first year at Central Normal and I have come from 3 years of teaching at Rongotea School. I love teaching Writing and have a passion for ICT. I love spending time with my family and playing Netball.
